A message from our minister, Rev. Dr. Margret A. O’Neall
Building Together a Community of Courage and Care
Founded in 1958, this Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Catskills has grown as a community of heritage, of vision and inspiration, of connection and commitment. Over the years, UU Catskills has persevered, thanks to the commitment and generosity of its members, as a community of courage and care.
In courage, we live into our values and commitments; in care, for each other and for the world, we keep hope alive in the spirit of compassion and support. In the Sharing Circles this winter, we learned that you treasure “the hope, the sense of community, the values we share,” with “people who are smart and caring, and want to make the world a better place” – “a place of “more fairness and equity.” Our members are “willing to grow and question” and they “wear their activism out loud.” That is the “heart and soul of this wonderful, warm and welcoming, caring community,” persevering through time with courage and care.
Unitarian Universalist congregations are independent, self-governing and self-supporting organizations, sustained by the commitment and financial investment of our members. The fiscal year begins on July 1, so in March we ask you, our members and friends, to make your financial commitments for the coming year. Each of us can do our part to sustain this beloved community, building on the legacy of the past to assure our presence for future generations.
I invite you to consider the vital role this congregation plays in your own life, and in the larger world, in this time of challenge and change. Please sustain or increase your financial pledge this year as you are able, joining our energies for greater justice and wholeness. With Love at our center, we support the strong heritage and bright future of this congregation. Blessed be.
The Pledge Campaign runs until April 12th, 2026.
