Social Action Team

Foundational to Unitarian Universalism’s 7 Principles is the concept of a living tradition where we engage with the times we live in and work for a more just world for all. At UU Catskills, social justice work is lead by working groups or task forces, with our full Social Action Committee meeting four times year to ensure that we are responsive to the desires of the congregation and that we are engaged with our wider community. We strive to support intersectionality in our congregational engagement and through a coordinated events calendar.

In June 2023, UU Catskills added an 8th Principle to the 7 adopted by the UUA. Please see the 8th Principle Task Force page for more information!

The Social Action Committee includes representatives from our current working groups and teams:

We recognize that the work for human rights and equality is an ongoing effort and that there are areas of need not currently represented herein. The Social Action Committee welcomes the opportunity to widen the circle of care and invites proposals for expansion to areas of need not currently represented in our collective actions.

All are welcome to participate. If you would like to learn more about this group, please send an email to uuccoffice@gmail.com so that we can contact you.
